My ATV Leader

(FROM 2013) Today I was out with my awesome hubby at a friends ministry property.

He was showing me around the property and we passed by some ATVs that he said they would ride on while there. He and I started to reminisce on before we were married and I rode an ATV with him. He steered and I sat on the back. At that time I was terrified. I was so scared because he knew exactly what he was doing when he rode the ATV and I was a beginner at it. With each turn I would grab him tighter and get even the more scared, screaming at the top of my lungs. Though I knew he knew exactly where he was going, knew every turn, every bump, I would rather drive myself.

This started to make me think. I would have felt safer if I had the wheel, if I was in control. If I could steer myself to my destination, I would have felt much safer and felt like I could control my outcome. This is the same with Christ. Too often we are too afraid to let Him take control and "steer" for us. We believe that if we controlled our life we would have a better outcome, but just like my hubby who knew how to get to the destination without hitting bumps I would not have seen, trees I would not have paid attention to, turning into a road that would have left me lost, or getting hurt, and so on, Jesus - if we let Him take control then we can avoid the mishaps of life, hitting bumps, getting hurt, or running into things or situations.

"18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) If we accept that ALL authority has been given to Jesus on heaven and on earth, then we know that He will guide us in the right path. John 16:13 says, "13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." (NKJV) If we would let the Lord show us the things to come we could avoid the heartache of bad decisions. Key phrase in this scripture "He will guide you". To let someone guide you, you have to let them take the lead. You have to trust them and follow them in the direction they are leading you. "I am the Lord thy God...Who leads you by the way you should go." Isaiah 48:17 (NKJV) God will lead you in the right direction, again if you let Him lead. There's nothing that He is not aware of. The bible says that when a sparrow falls, (Matthew 10:29-31 NKJV) He knows.

So when I thought about hubby again, I realized that even though I was afraid, which in this case was stepping out on faith with him in control, it was a safer and better choice because he was aware of the destination we were to get to and how to get there in the right amount of time with little to no disturbances. I learned that if I let Jesus take the lead, then in my life I will make it to my destination in the right amount of time with little to no disturbances.
